Create a Channel in Microsoft Teams

Description
Automatically create a Microsoft Teams channel within a specified team as part of an incident workflow.
Instructions
- If you have not done so, follow the instructions to Create an Incident Workflow.
- When the instructions prompt you to add actions, select this action.
- Enter the following Inputs and click Save.
- Continue following instructions to Publish the Workflow.
- When the action runs, you will see the Outputs listed below.

| Microsoft Teams Organization | Select the name of the Microsoft Teams Organization the meeting is in. |
| Microsoft Teams Team | The Microsoft Teams Team ID under which the new channel will be created. |
| Channel Name | The name for the new channel. Maximum 50 characters. |
| Channel Description (optional) | A description providing context about the channel's purpose. |

| Team ID | The internal ID of the Microsoft Teams team where the channel was created. |
| Channel ID | The internal ID of the newly created Microsoft Teams channel. |
Examples
Example 1: Create a dedicated incident channel automatically
When a high-severity incident is triggered, use this action to create a new channel named after the incident (e.g., incident-2026-04-17-payment-outage) in your SRE Team. Follow it with a notification step that includes the Channel URL so all responders can join immediately without manual coordination.
