Description

Update the workflow state of an existing issue in Linear from a PagerDuty Incident Workflow. This action enables automated lifecycle management of Linear issues, allowing teams to advance or update issue status in response to incident milestones such as acknowledgment, escalation, or resolution.

Instructions

  1. If you have not done so, follow the instructions to Create an Incident Workflow.
  2. When the instructions prompt you to add actions, select this action.
  3. Enter the following Inputs and click Save.
  4. Continue following instructions to Publish the Workflow.
  5. When the action runs, you will see the Outputs listed below.

Issue IDThe unique identifier of the Linear issue to update. Example: ENG-123 or a UUID.
StateThe name of the workflow state to set on the issue. Must match an existing state in the Linear team's workflow. Example: In Progress, Done, Cancelled.

Workflow states in Linear are team-specific. Ensure the state name you provide matches the exact state name configured for the team that owns the issue. Common states include In Progress, Done, Cancelled, and In Review.
