Account Subdomains
Change your account's subdomain
PagerDuty accounts are accessible via a personalized subdomain. For example, if your company name is EveryNine Inc., you can set your account's subdomain to everynine.pagerduty.com
, e9inc.pagerduty.com
, or anything else provided that it is five or more characters long and it is not already in use. Your account's subdomain is initially configured during trial activation. Once configured, your account's subdomain will then prepend your account's URL:
[YOUR-SUBDOMAIN].pagerduty.com
If you need to change your account's subdomain from the one initially configured, you will need to perform the following:
Availability
Changing the account subdomain is available for Professional, Business, Enterprise for Incident Management and Digital Operations (Legacy) plans. Accounts on our Free plan are not eligible for changing their subdomain. Please contact our Sales team to upgrade your account or visit our Pricing page for more details on each of our plans.
Prepare to Change Your Subdomain
When changing subdomains, please be mindful of the following:
- Integration email addresses for your PagerDuty services will change.
- Users will not be notified by PagerDuty of the subdomain change. You will need to communicate the change to your team so they know when and why the old subdomain will no longer be accessible.
- Although push notifications can still be received, the mobile app will not load and users will need to log out and log back into the mobile app.
- Please see Using the Mobile App for more information about logging in and out of the PagerDuty app.
- If these steps don't work, you can reset the app in your device settings:
- iOS: Settings PagerDuty Reset .
- Android: Settings Applications PagerDuty Clear Cache.
- If you have Single Sign On enabled, you will need to adjust your identity provider settings to reflect your new PagerDuty subdomain.
- If you are using the bidirectional MS Teams integration, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Teams integration.
- There is a minimum of five characters for PagerDuty subdomains.
Recommended Preparation Steps
To prevent any interruption in responders being able to act on their incidents, we recommend using the following action plan before changing your subdomain.
Action | Additional Information |
---|---|
Notify users about the upcoming subdomain change | Sample email template provided |
Add new email integration addresses within your external tools | Recommended to limit impact on alerting You can add the new email integration addresses within your integrated monitoring tools before the subdomain change by anticipating the change. For example: [email protected] will become [email protected] .Otherwise, existing email integration addresses can be swapped with new ones after the subdomain change. (NOTE: Any emails sent to email integration addresses with the old subdomain will not trigger incidents after the subdomain change is complete.) |
Remove old email integration addresses from your external tools | If new email integration addresses were added prior to the subdomain change, remove old email integration addresses from existing integrations for security. |
Change V1 REST API URL endpoints (Decommissioned October 2018) | Any existing scripts hosting v1 REST API URL endpoints need to reflect the new subdomain. |
Change SAML endpoint URL | If SSO is configured, adjust your SAML Endpoint URL to reflect the new subdomain. |
