SMS Notification Disclosures

User Opt-In

As indicated in the PagerDuty terms of service (or applicable negotiated customer terms), PagerDuty users must provide the appropriate consent to receive SMS notifications. PagerDuty Account Owners and Admins must obtain appropriate consent from their users to receive SMS notifications before adding their users’ numbers to the service. By configuring the SMS notifications sent and received, PagerDuty customers and users authorize PagerDuty to send the requested SMS notifications.

To begin receiving PagerDuty SMS notifications, users must provide their phone number and agree to receive notifications using text messages.

User Opt-Out

Users can opt out by changing their notification rules at any time, or by texting STOP, to stop receiving SMS messages to the specified phone number.

Users can also text HELP to obtain instructions on how to use our service as well as how to unsubscribe.

User Acknowledgments

Users who use the service certify and acknowledge the following:

  • They are the subscriber or customary authorized user of the specified phone number.
  • They have the authority to consent to receiving text messages at the specified phone number.
  • The users’ personal data will be processed as described in the PagerDuty Privacy Policy.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • The frequency of notifications sent may vary, depending on multiple factors, including the rate of incident occurrence, incident response and incident resolution. Users may receive multiple notifications per incident.
  • Use of the notification services must abide by the PagerDuty Acceptable Use Policy.
  • PagerDuty reserves the right to investigate suspicious or potentially problematic use, and prevent, throttle, or block any notifications that are abusive, or have detrimental or unfair effects on our business or on our customers. Actions taken based on abusive, detrimental or unfair uses will not be counted as delivery failures under the Notification Delivery SLA, if it applies.
  • PagerDuty relies on service providers, and ultimately, underlying common carriers, to deliver text messages. Notifications may be delayed or blocked based on the applicable terms and policies of these service providers or carriers.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
