Log In to PagerDuty

You can log in to PagerDuty in two ways. Depending on your account configuration, one option may not be available:

Log In With Email and Password

  1. In a supported web browser, navigate to identity.pagerduty.com or open the PagerDuty mobile app and click Sign In.
  2. If prompted, click Continue in the confirmation modal.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your PagerDuty account and click Next.
  4. Enter your password and click Sign In. If your email address connects to more than one PagerDuty account, select the account you want to log in to from the list displayed.
⚠️

Rate Limiting

If you attempt to log in multiple times within a short period, you may encounter an error message. PagerDuty enforces rate limits on login attempts to protect accounts. Wait a few minutes before trying again.

SSO Troubleshooting

If you do not see Sign In with Single Sign-On after entering your email, or if you cannot log in, contact your Account Owner to troubleshoot and verify your SSO configuration.

Log In Via Welcome Email

When your administrator configures SSO, you receive an email from your identity provider with access instructions. Log in for the first time by clicking the link in the welcome email.

The following example shows an Okta welcome email. Your email details vary based on your identity provider:

Safari Content Blockers

On iOS devices, content blockers in Safari can sometimes prevent the SSO login button from rendering. To manage this setting, navigate to Settings Safari Extensions.

FAQ

Do I need to select my service region?

If you log in with an email and password, you do not need to specify whether your account is in the Europe or United States service region. The login system works globally and logs you in to the appropriate account based on the credentials you enter. If you use the same email and password for accounts in both regions, the system displays a list of accounts that indicates the region for each.

I use Single Sign-On. Why do I not see the option to enter my email and password, too?

Your PagerDuty administrator configured the account to allow login only via SSO. Contact your PagerDuty administrator if you want to use an email and password to log in.

I have multiple accounts with the same email. Why do I not see a list of accounts?

A list of accounts appears only when they use the exact same email and password combination. If you use different passwords for different accounts with the same email address, the web app and mobile app do not display a list.

Can I use a password manager to log in?

Yes. Several password managers successfully handle login credentials, including when you have multiple PagerDuty accounts. If you use a unique password for each account, the web app and mobile app log you in to the correct account.

If I have multiple PagerDuty accounts, should I use the same password for each?

No. PagerDuty does not recommend using the same password across multiple accounts for security reasons, though certain configurations can require it.

What are the differences if I log in via SSO at subdomain.pagerduty.com vs. identity.pagerduty.com?

The flowcharts below show the login experience based on where you start:

Log In With the Account-Specific Subdomain

The SSO login path beginning at an account-specific URL (for example, subdomain.pagerduty.com or subdomain.eu.pagerduty.com) is streamlined — Sign in With SSO appears on the first screen.

Log In From identity.pagerduty.com

identity.pagerduty.com is a general login page for all PagerDuty accounts. Note the following when starting from this URL:

  • The web app or mobile app may display options to log in with both SSO and an email and password. This indicates your email address connects to multiple accounts where at least one uses SSO and another uses an email and password.
  • For security, if you log in to an SSO account from this URL, you must specify the subdomain you want to log in to.
